Our development roadmap aims to align our web interfaces with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Rather than asserting unsubstantiated blanket compliance certifications, we measure our accessibility engineering against practical, real-world usability benchmarks:
- Perceivable: Ensuring text contrast ratios meet or exceed 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large display elements across both light and dark display modes.
- Operable: Providing full keyboard navigation functionality with clear, visible focus rings for interactive links, buttons, search modals, and form fields.
- Understandable: Maintaining predictable navigational layouts, clear error messages on interactive forms, and consistent heading hierarchies (single
<h1>per article followed by structured<h2>and<h3>subheadings). - Robust: Generating valid semantic HTML5 elements that seamlessly interoperate with modern browsers and assistive technologies like NVDA, VoiceOver, JAWS, and TalkBack.
3. Concrete Accessibility Features
The following technical accessibility features are currently integrated into the TechPari platform:
Semantic Document Structure
Pages are built using native HTML5 landmarks (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <article>, <footer>) allowing screen reader users to jump directly between primary content areas.
Keyboard Accessibility
All interactive controls—including search palettes, navigation menus, cookie preference toggles, and form inputs—are reachable and operable via standard Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, and Spacebar keystrokes.
Color Modes & Contrast
We offer both light and dark visual themes with calibrated contrast palettes, avoiding low-contrast muted pastels for critical informational copy.
Code & Syntax Accessibility
Programming code blocks utilize high-contrast monospace typography with horizontal scroll indicators, avoiding layout breakage on zoomed displays.
4. Known Limitations & Third-Party Content
While we strive for comprehensive accessibility across all pages, there may be specific limitations:
- Third-Party Embedded Elements: Interactive widgets, video players, and third-party advertising creatives served by external partners are rendered outside our direct engineering control and may have varying levels of accessibility conformance.
- Legacy Archival Media: Older historical graphics or editorial illustrations published in our earliest archives may lack comprehensive alternative text descriptions. We are systematically retrofitting these assets during scheduled editorial reviews.
- Complex Benchmark Visualizations: Dense interactive multi-benchmark charts may present navigational challenges for screen readers. In these instances, our editorial policy mandates providing equivalent tabular or textual summaries within the body of the article.
